How could World War 1 have been a war to end all wars?

    the reason why it was called the war to end all wars was because of the inventions that were made during that time and how many young men had died during the fighting ..

    key inventions were the machine gun, mustard gas, heavier artillery and the tank and the air plane .

    they thought man would have to be mad to fight another war as bloody as that and with these new techs that killed men at wholesale.. sad thing was that there would be another one in less than 30 being…

    As mentioned, the loss of life was horrendous. All combatant countries combined, the average loss of life was 94,000 per month. By the end of the war, most of Europe was bled dry. The victorious countries then banded together and started The League of Nations which was to over see and find peaceful resolutions for all future grievances between nations. They failed miserably when Italy invaded Ethiopia and Hitler started his conquests.

    Another two weapons: The more modern flamethrower and the more modern incarnation of grenades.

    As stated before, it is mainly called the War to End All Wars at the time because it A. Caught up an incredible loss of life. B. New weapons that caused fantastic destruction. C. The most number of countries caught up in one war, ever. D. The proposed League of Nations, which was a precursor to the United Nations, but much more weaker. And E. People had gotten the thought into their minds that completely screwing over Germany by removing nearly all their rights as human beings (and planting the seeds of rage which allowable for someone like Hitler to influence others) would be the best possible solution to stop future incidents.
