For Russia, WWI was a disaster that ultimately led to the downfall and murder of the Czar and his family on 17 July, 1918 and the rise to power of the Bolsheviks. The Russian army was poorly equipped, poorly run, and left its by now precarious economy in shambles.

The only thing Russia’s entry into WWl did was to break down Germany to fight a two-adjoin war. Germany was mostly fighting westward towards France, Belgium and England, but with the involvement of Russia, it had to send troops to the Eastern Adjoin that it might have used to consolidate it’s push westward. Yes, the Russians troops were ruined, but again, Russia’s involvement forced the Germans to use troops to fight Russia that they would have preferred to use on the Western Adjoin. This certainly lead to a quicker German defeat than it would have had Germany not had to use troops and equipment to fight the Russians.

See the link below for a excellent synopsis on World War One. Hope this helps.
