I am half German, half French.
My motherland started the war, my fatherland was overrun, a lot of people collaborated with the Nazis and the government in exile became one of the Allies.
Yeah being a mixed European makes for some fascinating historic problems in my own family. It doesn’t help that part of my family died in concentration camps while another part of my family fought in the German Wehrmacht. Family reunions were kind of intense while the grandparents were still alive.

If Japan had never attacked Pearl Harbor the United States would have not got caught up in ww2.

WW2 started in Europe in september 1939 and waged for over 2 being before the Philippines or the U.S. was attacked.
The UK sent lots of equipment and soldiers to France, and much of it was lost when Germany invaded.
Britain stood alone for many being against Germany, won the Battle of Britain in the Summer of 1940, staving of invasion, and kept the supply routes open in the Atlantic, as well as fighting Germany and Italy alone in Greece, North Africa and Scandinavia.
When Russia was invaded we sent supplies on the dreaded arctic procession’s.
After the U.S entered the war we sent some of our scarce troops and ships to south east asia, and despite a send at Singapore the British undertook some of the harshest fighting in Burma against the cream of the Japanese army.
The invasion of Europe took place from the UK, as did much of the bombing of Germany, but the war left the UK broke and in debt to the U.S who charged us for the arms they sent to us.
Even so our sacrifice is not anything compared to Russia, over 90% of german casualties occurred on the eastern adjoin.

I’M Danish and we were just full during WWII. My nan had an affair with a German soldier and got her hair cut off and was paraded around Copenhagen after the war. Hitler liked the Scandinavians cause of the blond hair blue eyes thing. There were resistances and some danish fishermen “helped” Jews cross to Sweden (after getting paid a generous sum of money).
