If i were you i’d just pick one country
as there were hundreds of regiments and all the uniforms were different and theres lots of medals as well, so if i were you i’d pick a subject like uniforms, medals, transport, weapons, cap badges buttons and do one of those

In regard to equipment< in all probability the majority of them has by now been taken. About the only this you can do is go owing to your search engine to see if someone is trying to sell something or go to an public sale of a veterans home. There was a show I saw and i don't know which theatre it was but 5 brothers {Sullivan brothers}joined the Navy and were on the same ship together. They were killed. They had one sister and when she became of age she joined the Navy. There are a lot of movies out about the war and the thing about it was if you did not have the news paper you found out what was going on on both fronts of the war by going to the movies where they had the pictures that were given to them. Reading wise would be to get some of the books from the library. Check with them as sometimes they have a sale on their books because they are in succession out of room. I hope I have helped you. If you start in on this there is a lot of reading for you to do. Excellent luck

It will be very expensive for you to buy uniforms and equipment. a lot of the best things are by now in collections. i reckon you should consider another option, buy collectors dolls made by Dragon ltd. they will still cost a bit of money but they are works of art and very accurate detail and based on real soldiers. you can get the german camouflage stuff that is not easily available with full size uniforms, maybe there are full size replicas for renewal but Dragon models come with all the equipment and everything and will take up less room. I don’t assemble them myself but i have seen them often enough to appreciate what they are. There are book clubs that specialise in military books, such as military and aviation book society. you can also find some on amazon but there are plenty of books on line.
