Scott Catalog Nos.63,68, making up 11c carrier rate on small cover, tied with black grid
cancels and sent from New York City (red cancel, Oct 13) to the La Regla
District of Havanna, Cuba. Neatly slit open top, not backstamped, but with
unreadable black oval numeral cancel front. Travel worn, with small stains and
edge-worn front and back, as shown, with numerous light pencil notations front
and rounded/damaged corners (mounts), otherwise still very collectable, with no
additional faults. Foreign usage was still relatively uncommon in the
mid-1800s.
